One of my many favorite parts of homeschooling is that we have so many ways to learn! If your child isn’t ready to read yet, no worries; they can still learn so much. These games don’t require your child to read, making it easier for them to learn without pressure to read. Instead of reading, many of these games are symbol- or picture-based, making them easier for non-readers.
*These games include minimal reading but can be read by someone else or easily memorized.
Math
Many math games don’t require reading at all. Check out these winners to get lots of practice playing with numbers without reading pressure:

Cooperative Games
Cooperative games are great because even if reading is required, someone else can do the reading for the non-reader. Plus, they just might be that perfect something to motivate a child to start reading! In addition, many of these games are logic-based, helping your child develop their critical thinking skills.
Music Games
Music speaks to a part of our soul that words often can’t touch. In addition, many students are able to read music before they are reading words. These games can be a good way to capitalize on this.
Other/Fun Games
Whether or not your children are reading, these are fun games to add to your collection! Many video games can also read directions and dialogue to the player, so are great for emerging readers. I’ve even heard of kids learning to read through video games!
