Cards in Here to Slay

This game is composed of oversized party leader and monster cards plus standard-sized cards. Each player gets one part leader card and five standard cards. Standard cards are all in one deck but may be party members, actions, or modifiers. Monster cards are in a separate deck and three are placed face-up in the center of the table.
Some of the party leaders are in the top row and a few monsters are in the bottom row.
The goal of the game is to either slay three different monsters or to have a full party with every class represented (there are 6 in the base game). Party members help you slay monsters, and many monsters require a certain class be in a party in order to be slain.
The top two rows contain possible party members from the base game. The cards in the bottom row are from the Berserkers & Necromancers expansion pack.

Attacking Monsters

Once you have decided to attack a monster, roll the dice to determine if you are successful. Each monster card indicates what you need to roll. Additionally, monsters have a number that, if you roll below, you have to sacrifice a party member or discard two cards. This means that choosing to attack a monster comes with some risk.
Cheat sheet cards
There is a lot of luck involved with Here to Slay, but also different strategies you can use. And with any game in which different characters have specialized capabilities, success usually depends on using those special capabilities to the fullest extent possible. Nothing is worse than playing half the game and realizing you sabotaged your own success by ignoring what individual cards are capable of.
Top row: some possible objects
Middle row: some possible spells
Bottom row: modifiers and challenge cards

Here to Slay also has a number of expansion packs (we have Berserkers & Necromancers) which can add greater variety and make things more fun. Overall, while Here to Slay is not cooperative and can get cutthroat, it’s still a winner.
