Does your family love a fast-paced, fun game? It’s time to check out Beep! Beep! In this game, you are driving a car down a highway and swerving around various animals. You swerve around them by matching colors or characters.

Beep! Beep! is a small card game with different colors and characters. To begin, each player is dealt two cards face-up (unless only two players are playing, in which case three cards are dealt). The remaining cards are divided into five approximately even piles. These are placed face-up around the car, within easy reach of all players.

How to Play Beep! Beep!

When beginning, make sure each pile has a unique card on top; you don’t want any repeated colors or characters. There are enough different colors and characters that this shouldn’t be difficult, but we often have a hard time with this part.

Beep! Beep! congestion

If at any time while playing at least three cards have the same color or character, any player can call out the congestion by hitting the car (it squeaks!) and yelling Beep! Beep! If there is, indeed, congestion, they take two of the cards causing the congestion (their choice) and put them to the side of their piles, face-down.

To play, no turns are taken. Every player acts simultaneously by matching either the color or the character of a card in the center piles to a card on top of one of their piles. When they find a match, they add it to the top of their pile. Only one hand may be used at a time, which means no blocking other players and you can only take one card at a time.

Fast and Hilarious Card Game!

When at least two of the center piles are depleted, the game is over and players count up the cards in each of their piles (do not combine them). Players use the number of cards in their smaller pile as their score. If they have any cards off to the side from noticing congestion, they add those cards to their score.

Beep! Beep! teaches color and character matching, but since it’s so fast-paced, it’s not really suitable for younger kids. Or at least, they can play against each other, but an adult or older child would easily beat them. This game isn’t the best choice for a wide range of ages or skill levels.

In my family, we have some issues identifying different colors. No one has been diagnosed as colorblind, but my dad was, so I know I could be a carrier. My son has shown some signs that he might be. Also, as my husband has aged, he’s shown some signs that colors might be harder for him to identify. However, we didn’t notice any issues with this game. If you suspect that any of your players would have a hard time differentiating the colors, see if they’re able to in these pictures before you purchase the game.

Beep! Beep! play

Overall, Beep! Beep! is a fast, fun game that is great for visual acuity. However, if your family members struggle with overwhelm or speed-based activities, then I would pass on this game. I suppose you could play it turn-based, but I don’t think it would be very fun. But if you need a quick break between more serious pursuits, this game may be just what you’re looking for.

There are so many different cards (2 of each), I couldn’t get them all in one picture!
